Stage 1 vs Stage 2 Remapping: What Drivers Should Know

You want more from your car or van, but the choice between Stage 1 and Stage 2 remapping is not obvious. The main difference is the hardware the software is designed for: Stage 1 generally suits standard components, while Stage 2 needs suitable supporting modifications. A higher stage is not automatically the right choice. For an unmodified vehicle, ask about Stage 1 first. If yours already has modifications, tell us exactly what has changed before requesting Stage 2. Send your registration, postcode and a photo of any warning by WhatsApp, call us, or use the quote form. Fix My AdBlue checks suitability before quoting.
1. Is Stage 1 right for a standard car or van?
Stage 1 changes the engine computer’s software and is generally designed around the vehicle’s standard hardware. It is the option to discuss if you want a remap without planning supporting component upgrades. That does not mean every standard vehicle is suitable.
Tell us what you want from the appointment: a different driving response, an economy-focused service, or help with an existing warning. These are different requests, so we need to know your priority rather than simply choosing a stage number.
2. What makes Stage 2 different?
Stage 2 software is designed to work with suitable supporting modifications. Depending on the vehicle and software, requirements can include changes to airflow or cooling components. The exact requirements matter more than the label, so do not assume any modified vehicle is ready for Stage 2.
Our Stage 2 Remap service is software only. We do not supply, fit, replace, repair or clean parts. Tell us about existing modifications when you enquire so we can assess whether the setup is suitable.
If you are still planning modifications, contact us before booking the software work. We need a clear picture of the vehicle’s setup, not just a request for a stronger remap.
3. A remap and AdBlue work are different services
If your dashboard shows an AdBlue warning or a no-start countdown, make that the starting point of your enquiry. Do not book Stage 1 or Stage 2 expecting it to include our AdBlue service or resolve unrelated engine faults.
Our main service is AdBlue Delete, also called AdBlue Removal. These are two names for the same software service: we change the engine computer’s software so it no longer runs or monitors the AdBlue system, clearing related warnings and the countdown. It does not fix unrelated engine faults.
Economy Remap, Performance Remap, Stage 1 Remap and Stage 2 Remap are quoted separately and are never free with AdBlue work. DPF Delete and EGR Delete are also separate, software-only services, subject to suitability.
4. How our mobile service works
We begin with your registration to check the vehicle’s suitability before quoting. Not every car or van can receive every service. Include details of previous remapping, existing modifications and any current warnings.
For suitable vehicles, we arrange a mobile visit to your home, workplace or another safe place across England, subject to availability. Our work is software only, so an appointment does not include mechanical repairs or component fitting.
Standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24/7, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge is confirmed before dispatch.
5. Why choose Fix My AdBlue?
Operating Since 2012, Fix My AdBlue offers Experienced Technicians and a Nationwide Mobile Service Across England. You can read genuine Google reviews before deciding whether to book.
Our No Fix, No Fee commitment is straightforward: If we cannot complete the job, there is no charge.
Our Lifetime Software Warranty applies to the software work on that vehicle. If the covered work develops a problem, we correct it again. Later software updates or recalls void the warranty. Callout charges, including emergency callout charges, are not covered.
6. Book in three steps
You do not need to know which service to choose before contacting us. Start with your vehicle details and what you want help with.
- Send your registration, postcode and warning details, including a photo if a warning is showing. WhatsApp, call or use the quote form.
- We check suitability and provide a quote for the requested software work. Mention any modifications at this stage.
- Arrange a mobile appointment at a safe location, subject to availability.
Customer FAQs
Can I have Stage 2 without supporting modifications?
Not through our Stage 2 service. It needs suitable supporting modifications, and we must check the setup before quoting. Stage 2 hardware requirements depend on the particular application.
Will you fit the parts needed for Stage 2?
No. Fix My AdBlue provides software services only. Any required component fitting must be arranged elsewhere before the vehicle is ready for our Stage 2 software work.
Is Stage 1 included with AdBlue Removal?
No. Stage 1 Remap and AdBlue Removal are separate services. Any additional remapping is checked for suitability and quoted separately, never included free.
Can I enquire about a remap if a warning is showing?
Yes. Send a clear photo of the warning with your registration and describe what the vehicle is doing. We need those details before assessing the requested work.
Do you offer remapping for vans?
Yes, we offer software remapping for suitable vans as well as cars. Send the registration first so we can check which services are available for that vehicle.
Need Help With an AdBlue Warning?
Send your registration, postcode and a photo of the warning. We check suitability and confirm the price before anything is booked.
